Let’s march together to show our solidarity with refugees! Today, engaged citizens from all around Europe are taking to the streets of 100 European cities to urge their governments to face their responsibilities and act now. So many promises were made with so little effect. Building walls and fences around and between us is no solution to the dramatic fates of women, children and men fleeing war and atrocities. This is not the time to turn against each other, but rather to work on a common European approach to asylum.
As S&Ds, we are particularly concerned about the fate of vulnerable refugees, including unaccompanied minors, women and LGBTI people. We’ve put a series of proposals on the table and we will be fighting for a fair solution in the coming weeks.
