PES leaders adopted a PES-roadmap post-Brexit. Rainbow Rose was glad to be part of this process. PES leaders committed to push for the anti-discrimination directive outside of work and fight against all discrimination, including based on gender identity and sexual orientation, and take this dimension into account regarding asylum seekers. Madrid Pride took place in the first week of July. As every year, our member Grupo Federal LGTB – PSOE had an intense and very positive presence.
On Tuesday, Puri Causapié (Chair of the Socialist Group at the Madrid City Council) hanged the rainbow flag at the city hall.
Helsinki Pride in 2nd of July in Finland gathered more than 30 000 people.
The Social Democratic party of Finland Sosialidemokraatit SDP attended the Helsinki Pride with our member structure Pinkkiruusu. The leadership of the party was present with many members of the parliament and SD-activists.
This week, Rainbow Rose attended the ILGA-Europe gala in Brussels. It was great to see the attendance of many Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament MEPs and staff and Parti Socialiste representatives. An occasion to celebrate the improvement for LGBTI people in Europe this year and the work still needed… Thanks to ILGA-Europe for gathering LGBTI and their allies!

We relaunched Rainbow Rose three years ago. Hard, inspiring and volunteering work brought our organization to be the most important and influential LGBTI political organization. And this is possible because of teamwork, within our political family but also together with our important networks all along Europe. Making our presence in Copenhagen for IDAHOT more productive, the 4 representatives from Rainbow Rose met MP Mogens Jensen at the Danish Parliament, former Minister and Deputy Chairman from 2015 of Socialdemokraterne. Mogens has been involved and strong supporter of Rainbow Rose for many years now!
For the last two days we attended the 2nd European Rainbow Cities Conference in Barcelona, where people shared and listened to different experiences on LGBTI policies at local level in Europe. Organized by Ajuntament de Barcelona Diputació de Barcelona in collaboration with UVic.
Belgian MEP Marie Arena from the Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament: “When a child is born or adopted, it is very important for parents to be able to spend time with their child to develop a relationship. Having good parental leave conditions is essential to guarantee this.”
